Rebuilding lives

Helping Monks Rebuild Their Lives

For many young monks in Nepal, entering a monastery at an early age is a path shaped by family tradition, spiritual devotion, or economic hardship. Monastic life provides discipline, spiritual education, and a strong sense of community. However, not all monks remain in the monastery throughout their lives. Some eventually leave the monastic path and face the difficult challenge of starting a new life outside the monastery walls.

For former monks, this transition can be deeply challenging. Having spent most of their childhood and teenage years in a monastic environment, many have limited access to formal education, practical life skills, or financial resources needed to adapt to life in the wider community. Without support, they often struggle to find stable housing, continue their education, or build a sustainable future.

Amala Center Nepal is committed to supporting monks who are beginning this difficult transition. Through our Helping Monks Program, we provide assistance to former monks who are seeking education, vocational opportunities, and guidance as they rebuild their lives. Our goal is to ensure that these individuals are not left without support after leaving the monastery.

With the help of generous sponsors and donors, Amala Center Nepal provides essential support such as educational opportunities, living assistance, and mentorship. These resources help former monks gain the confidence, knowledge, and stability needed to integrate into society and pursue meaningful opportunities.

Your sponsorship can make a profound difference. By supporting this program, you help provide former monks with access to education, basic living support, and the chance to build a new future with dignity and independence.

Together, we can ensure that those who once dedicated their lives to spiritual practice are not forgotten when they step into a new chapter of life. Through compassion, community support, and opportunity, we can help them rebuild their lives and move forward with hope.

Make generous donation of one time to support the activities of Amala Center Nepal. This donation will go directly to support a monk living outside monastic support
